cover questions.

questions to apply to my cover

I put my model Justin Bieber in the centre making him the main view point with the articles around him. This contorts that Justin bieber is the main focus point of the magazine and the main article is about him because he is the model taking up most of the cover. The models position contorts that he is the issues is about him and features a large article regarding him. The text is positioned around the model making the reader see them when they are drawn to the text. The text uses radial symmetry and draws the readers attention to the centre where the model is situated. The articles are appealing to my target group of teenage girls with bright colours for some articles contorting that they are more informal and are gossip. My cover has a very informal tone which appeal to my target audience. The background is very plain which draws attention to the model and bright text. The album has not got many cover lines but the ones are arranged so they draw the readers attention to the model. One article has a picture below which is relevant to the article. The image is small and does not draw attention from the centre and surrounding articles.

balance

Symmetrical balance is a mirror image balance and can be split in two to show the same thing on each side. Each side mirrors the other this is mostly seen in architecture. This magazine had the man standing  in symmetry the title also has the same color and font.

The light green text balances the neutral model and background. Our eyes are drawn to the light green light text that stands out in front of the dull background. The text is bright and stands out to draw the reader into looking at the articles featured inside. The text colors contort that the text is the most important part and should stand out inviting the reader in.

This magazine uses isometrical balance by  value using the grey color s to balance the black and white colors. The backgrounds color has a mix of black, grey and white the magazine uses grey to balance the black colors against the white stopping them conflicting. The text around the title is grey to keep it clear form the black around it.

This cover asymmetrical balance by shape using a plain boring background with the model centered in front of it. The readers attention is focused on the model rather than the boring background. The model balances the plain background.

his magazine uses balance by positioning the text so that larger text on one side is balanced by the smaller text on the other side. The larger middle text is balanced by the smaller text in the bottom right corner. This is used to make the more important articles stand out to the lesser ones.

This magazine uses texture balance with the detailed background contrasting with the model sat neutrally in the middle. the Dark detailed wall and floor balance his simple expression and suit.

The balance on this cover is that the readers eyes are drawn to the articles where the model is looking. The balance is eye direction because the reader is drawn to the text because the model is looking that way.

This magazine uses radial balance because all the text radiates around the model in the centre drawing the readers eye to the centre. The text is around the centre model making it radial balance.

lifestyle conventions part 4

yellow: informal
green: direct
Publication: FHM
Issue: February 2005

The standard model “guy” is a pretty straightforward being. When we tell our lady to shut her trap so we can watch some footie, it means just that. There are no hidden messages whatsoever. And it certainly does not mean,Honey, now is the best time to talk about where this relationship is going.” But as we’ve stressed oh-so-many times in the pages of this very magazine, women on the other hand, are not so much into this business of being straightforward. The word “fine” for example, could mean a million and one things, and it is way better to have all your limbs chopped off by a mega-powered chainsaw than have a woman say the dreaded word to you.
So this month if your girl mutters, “We don’t really need to celebrate Valentine’s Day if you don’t want to,” don’t take it as your cue to jump for joy and spend all the cash on Star Wars Lego. Why? Because there is simply no chance in hell that she actually means it, plus it will take you forever to build one stupid Millennium Falcon.
If anything, it’s simply a test to see if you’re really the sensitive and caring dreamboat that you’ve been pretending to be, or if you’re just, well, a guy. So what do you do? If you really dig the chick – and third base is a great possibility – we recommend you sell all your worldly possessions and spend it all on that one special day. And to help your cause, we’ve got some pretty good V-Day gift ideas on pages 98 and 99. After all, third base is a pretty damn good thing.
